Hello!
My name is Joey Lopane. I am an Industrial Design graduate from the University of Cincinnati’s College of DAAP. I discovered my passion for design after transitioning from engineering, where I became fascinated by the process of concept development and creative ideation. During my time at the University of Cincinnati, I completed four co-ops in the entertainment industry, gaining hands-on experience bringing imaginative ideas to life through storytelling, spatial design, and guest experience.
My work extends beyond product design into community planning, zoning, and area development to help shape communities across Ohio. I am passionate about creating expressive designs that elevate consumer experiences and spark “wow” moments for people of all ages. Outside of design, I enjoy spending time with my wife and family, staying active in my community, and finding creative inspiration through shared experiences.
EXPERIENCE
KINGDOM PRODUCTIONS
Concept Designer/Pre-frabrication Coordinator|Cincinnati, OH | June 2024 - October 2025
During my time at Kingdom Productions I created plans, elevations, sections, and perspective renderings for thematic areas in various attractions across North America. I was responsible for generating concept designs and bringing that design through the schematic phase and into the fabrication phase. I was responsible for drafting schematic level drawings to communicate the overall design intent for the architects and contractors.
CROSSROADS COMMUNITY PLANNING
Freelance Urban Planner | Remote | February 2024 - Present
I provide my design services through creating illustrations to visually communicate dense regulatory language for board members, developers, and residents. I also assist townships in the central Ohio area by creating concept art and giving clear communication to residents about future development plans.
BANG ZOOM DESIGN
Toy Inventor Design CO-OP | Cincinnati, OH | August - December 2023
During my time at Bangzoom Design I gained experience in rapid prototyping and idea generation through developing simple mechanical systems for toy animatronics. I generated quick concept drawings and prototypes to present to large scale manufacturers for new and current IP product lines.
JRA - PART OF RWS ENTERTAINMENT GROUP
Experience Design CO-OP | Cincinnati, OH | May - August 2022 and January - May 2023
At Jack Rouse Associates, I created concepts for new attractions and experiences. I drew plans and elevations for a variety of different projects including cruise ships, theme parks, children's museums, and fair installations.
HASBRO
Game Design CO-OP, Preschool Team | Pawtucket, RI | September - December 2021
At Hasbro, I worked in the preschool games division. I worked on various pre established IPs including Hungry Hungry Hippos, Operation, and Guess Who. I created simple game mechanics and cardboard prototypes to then be playtested by kids 3 to 5 years old.
